CHARACTER'S PERSONAL STYLE: Conservative and professional to the core, Zoe's preferred style leans heavily towards blacks and whites, fitted jackets and white blouses. Seldom, if ever, caught in trousers, she far prefers to wear skirts and dresses wherever possible. Her nails are always immaculate, clean and manicured, and she generally keeps her hair tied back in a ponytail, well out of her way. When teaching, she wears black robes and minimal jewellery- just a thin silver chain around her neck and an engagement ring, despite the fact that she's not actually engaged. Generally, she wears no makeup. Although she only uses glasses for reading, she keeps them around her neck at all times. Zoe will never wear a hat in any circumstances, but does have a great love of scarves, especially in tartan patterns.

CHARACTER PERSONALITY: Zoe has always had a very serious side to her, a remnant of a childhood spent largely in looking after two younger siblings, and has trouble in letting loose from time to time. However, she does have a sense of humour, albeit a sarcastic one, which she isn't averse to displaying to her students. Her opinions are many and complex, but she generally keeps them to herself, having found in the past that airing them in public did little to endear her to anyone and very seldom won her any support in any case. Despite a reserved exterior in her professional life, Zoe has a temper to match her hair and, although it is better controlled now than it was during her teenage years, it still shows through occasionally in times of exceptional stress, being the one thing about herself which she would most like to change. Despite this, however, she has a caring and nurturing nature which might have landed her in Hufflepuff had her impulsiveness been less evident.
While she was at Hogwarts, Zoe played for her House Quidditch team, which sparked a passion that has stayed with her right up to the present day- the sport is one of her favourite things and she never misses a school game. Otherwise, her favourite activity is reading- not a particularly Gryffindor trait, but one which she has picked up in the years since leaving school, finding an interest in learning about things which were barely touched by the curriculum. She loves her work, though she has no sympathy towards the cruel, lazy or slacking students with whom she has to deal. Her Patronus takes the form of a horse, conjured with the memory of starting her job at Hogwarts, whilst her Boggart would be herself; old, frail, dying and alone.

CHARACTER HISTORY INTRO: Born in Edinburgh, Scotland, Zoe grew up as the only daughter of two loving parents; both doctors working in the city's major hospital. Her childhood was somewhat remarkable in that strange occurrences seemed almost to follow her around- for example, when she was particularly angry, all the clocks in the house would strike twelve. Since they were both scientific by nature, her parents refused to accept the possibility of there being anything 'different' about their daughter, and took quite some persuasion to allow her to attend Hogwarts when the time eventually came. At last, however, they were convinced, and so Zoe set off for Hogwarts, where she was duly Sorted into Gryffindor House. She made friends quickly, being of an outgoing nature, and her time in the school passed in the strange way that such time does; while a single Potions lesson could seem to drag on for decades, the whole seven years seemed to fly by in a matter of weeks. Zoe played Quidditch for her House team and was eventually selected as captain. Her seventh year brought an additional excitement; she received a letter telling her that her mother was pregnant and, what was more, she would not be due to give birth until after Zoe got home, meaning that she would be able to meet them straight away. Initially excited, the redhead soon realised that her mother was perhaps a little old to be giving birth once more, and her worries only grew as she received another letter to tell her that twins were expected.
Zoe's worries were well-founded. Three days after arriving home having completed her seventh year, she found herself with a pair of younger siblings, a father who would speak to no-one and no mother.
Many would have panicked, and that was indeed the Gryffindor girl's initial impulse, but after enlisting the help of one or two of her friends, she quickly realised that there was no real choice to be made here. She would have to look after these babies, for her mother's sake and for their own, and she would have to do it alone. Of course it wasn't easy, but it got easier, and by the time that the twins were six and Zoe had turned twenty three, her father told her that enough was enough. He was better now, he needed something to do with himself, and she needed to go out and do something for herself. Initially hesitant, the girl- now a young woman- eventually acquiesced, and found herself a position teaching Parenting at Hogwarts; something that she found rather ironic, considering that she wasn't one.
